Boxing superstar, Manny Pacquiao lost his fight to Jeff Horn in the WBO World Welterweight Title in a unanimous points decision. The three main judges scored the fight 117 -111, 115 – 113, 115 – 113 in favour of Jeff Horn also nicknamed “The Hornet”, the Australian schoolteacher.
The 38-year-old Filipino has lost his lost four of his last five fights. He was on the offensive against Pacquiao midstage in the fight and gave him a cut on his upper eye. During the late stages of the fight, Pacquiao came up with a brilliant counter-offensive in the ninth round but couldn’t sustain the tempo in the tenth.
Horn, 29 won the tenth round and the fight because of the points he had earned at the earlier stages of the fight. With this, Horn has won seventeen and drawn one of his last eighteen fights. The Australian, who until recently taught students at Pallara State School in Brisbane won a guaranteed prize money of US$500,000 from this fight.
