Chelsea has signed Ecuadorian international, Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Hove Albion in an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with a club option of a further year.

Santo Domingo, Ecuador, served as the starting point of Caicedo’s journey to Chelsea. He joined CD Espoli’s youth division at age 13 and was already playing for a regional select XI. Two years later, he joined Independiente del Valle.

Caicedo left South America in February 2021 and was signed to Brighton. He didn’t make his debut until the following year when he played in the EFL Cup against Cardiff City, and he then moved on loan to join the Belgian team Beerschot.

The 21-year-old played 43 times for the Seagulls last year as they finished sixth in the Premier League, which was a record for them. Caicedo, who was honoured as the team’s and players’ player of the season, was essential to that triumph.
