Netherlands defeated South Africa 2 – 0 to claim a quarter-final spot at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

Jill Roord scored her fourth goal of the tournament at Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday to advance to the Women’s World Cup quarterfinals.

Roord’s header in the 9th minute gave her team an early lead, while Lineth Beerensteyn added a second goal in the 68th minute of the second half thanks to a goalkeeping error, securing the Dutch a rendezvous with Spain in Wellington on Friday.

South African striker, Thembi Kgatlana had a fantastic performance throughout the encounter but the Dutch goalkeeper and Man of the Match, Daphne van Domselaar was of stellar quality.
