Spain trash Switzerland to qualify for the quarterfinals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023
Spain defeated Switzerland 5 -1 to qualify for the quarterfinals of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Spain opened scoring early through Aitana Bonmati in the 5th minute of the first half. A Laia Codina own goal gave Switzerland some temporary respite in the 12th minute of the encounter.
Further goals by Alba Redondo in the 17th minute, Aitana Bonmati in the 36th minute, and Laia Codina in the 45th minute of the first half ensured Spain was in control of the match.
Jennifer Hermoso of Spain sealed the fate of Swiss ladies in the 70th minute and Spain had a resounding victory.
This is the first time Spain will qualify for the quarterfinals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
