LeBron James off to Los Angeles Lakers in a 4-year, $153.3M deal

LeBron James is departing from his hometown team, Cleveland Cavaliers as a free agent for the second time after penning a four-year, US$154 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. The announcement was made through his agency, Klutch Sports Group on July 1.

The fourth-year component of the deal is a player option since all of his previous deals have been three years or shorter. It’s the longest deal Lebron has signed since putting pen to paper for the Miami Heat in a six-year deal. He’s leaving Cleveland on a positive note having delivered an NBA title to the team.
