Nigeria’s D’Tigress defeat Senegal to win a fourth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket

Nigeria’s D’Tigress defeated Senegal to win a 4-peat – a fourth consecutive title at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2023 at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda. Nigeria won 84 – 74 to defeat Senegal.

The Senegalese had an auspicious start after the jump-ball by leading 4 – 0 but the Nigerians shook off the slow start to lead the first quarter 19 – 10.

D’Tigress team captain, Sarah Ogoke is having her best game of the tournament.

The second quarter ended in favour of the Nigerians as they maintained the lead at half-time 43 – 31.

The Senegalese regained composure in the third quarter and had splendid displays through Celia Dillard.  Senegal outscored Nigeria 26 – 19. The third quarter ended with a five-point difference, 62 – 57 in favour of Nigeria.

In the fourth quarter, Nigerian showed charisma and won 22 – 17 to end the tournament gracefully.
