Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace inspired Al Nassr to a remarkable victory in the Arab Club Champions Cup final.
Despite playing for more than an hour with just 10 men, Al Nassr defeated Saudi rivals Al-Hilal 2-1 in extra time on Saturday.
The Portuguese equalised in the 74th minute with a close-range finish, only to have what appeared to be a victory ruled out for offside.
The final went to extra time, and despite playing with 10 men since the 71st minute due to the dismissal of Abdulelah Al-Amri, Ronaldo scored the winner for Al-Nassr eight minutes later.
Al-Hilal saw the debuts of summer acquisitions Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, while Al Nassr had the debuts of Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, and Alex Telles.
Cristiano Ronaldo is scheduled to undergo tests on Sunday, and Al-Nassr will be hoping that it is merely a minor injury for their top player, who is the Saudi Pro League’s leading scorer this season with six goals.
