Nigeria’s D’Tigress maul Guinea 106 – 33 at FIBA AfroBasket

Nigeria’s female Basketball team, D’Tigress secured their fourth successive win at the ongoing FIBA AfroBasket in Malian capital city of Bamako. The Sam Vincent and Mfon Udoka led team reached a century of points with a 106 – 33 win over Guinea and after they whitewashed Egypt 106 – 72 on Sunday in their third match. D’Tigress have defeated Mozambique and DR Congo in their first & second matches respectively.

The first quarter ended 26 – 8 in favour of the Nigerians. At halftime, it was 48 -12. The third quarter ended 82 -20, and the final quarter saw the Nigerians completing the maul against the Guineans and ending the match with the biggest win of the tournament so far. The starting five, Ezinne Kalu, Evelyn Akhator, Adaora Ulonu, Atone Nginyifa and Ndidi Madu all had stellar performances.

After Tuesday’s game, Nigeria remains second on the table behind Senegal and will be playing the defending champion on Wednesday to complete their preliminary round of matches. The Senegalese have been impressive in the tournament. Earlier on Tuesday, the Senegalese defeated Egypt 93 – 61 and have won four out of four games at par with the Nigerians.
