Russell Westbrook is 2017 NBA MVP

Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma Thunders has won the league MVP award after shattering NBA records all season long. He edged out two suitable finalists in James Harden and Kawhi Leonard. He received his award at BasketBall City in New York on Monday.

The 28-year-old had an impressive season 2016-17 season breaking records. He’s now the only player in NBA history to have the most triple-doubles in an NBA season (42), thereby breaking a 55-year old record set by NBA legend Oscar Robertson.

He averaged 31.6 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game. This ensured Oklahoma City Thunders a 6th place in the Western Conference with a 47-35 record. His regular season and playoffs were the most astonishing individual contribution we have witnessed on a basketball court.
