Sadio Mane joins Saudi outfit Al-Nassr in a £34m move from Bayern Munich

Senegalese striker, Sadio Mane has joined Saudi outfit, Al-Nassr in a £34m move from Bayern Munich.

Mane, 31, will join Cristiano Ronaldo’s team in the Saudi Pro League after Al-Nassr signed Seko Fofana, Marcelo Brozovic, and Alex Telles this summer.

The attacker just moved to Bayern for £35 million last year, but he struggled to settle in Germany, scoring only 12 goals for the club while also having a public spat with teammate Leroy Sane.

Mane is the latest in a long line of great European talents to move to Saudi Arabia, with the 31-year-old poised to earn a remarkable £34 million per year (£650,000 per week).

Last season, the 31-year-old had a disappointing season with Bayern, scoring just 12 goals in 38 games.

Earlier on Tuesday, Bayern Munich manager, Thomas Tuchel claimed that he and Mane had both agreed that the attacker should leave the club this summer, although the duo have a strong connection despite their split.

He said: “We had a big hug. We both agreed that we don’t like what’s happening now but we both agreed it’s the best in this situation.

“Sometimes things don’t work out the way everyone wants them to work out. I had a very good relationship with him always and that will stay. That was said in our last talk – a big hug and a smile on our faces.

“It’s not personal from his side. I totally understand that he feels hurt. I also don’t feel happy that things like this happen. We didn’t bring it to the full potential which is my job and my responsibility. It’s always a sad moment but in this particular situation it was the best solution to untie the knot.”

Al Nassr, along with Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, and Al Hilal, were among four Saudi Arabian clubs taken over by the country’s Public Investment Fund in June. This investment has resulted in the relocation of various European football talents, notably Karim Benzema, Ruben Neves, and N’Golo Kante.
