Neymar injured and out for ten weeks

Paris Saint Germain mercurial forward, Neymar is injured and will be out for ten weeks. The former Barcelona ace had a fractured metatarsal and will be on the sidelines for over two months.

The Brazilian suffered the injury on January 23 during the French Cup game against Strasbourg. Neymar will miss PSG’s first leg Champions League game against Manchester United on February 12 and the return leg in Paris on March 6 but could be ready for a potential quarter-final in April if they defeat Manchester United in the second round.

The French club released a statement saying, “After detailed analysis by the specialists, a consensus was reached of a conservative treatment of Neymar Jr’s injury to the fifth right metatarsal. Informed of this recommendation, Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian international striker agreed with this protocol. As a result, Neymar Jr is expected to return to the field within 10 weeks.”

PSG has the brightest chance to win this season’s Ligue 1 title leading with 56 points from 20 games. Second-placed Lille is 13 points behind PSG. Not minding his injury woes, Neymar has scored 13 goals in the French League and 5 in the Champions League.
