Philippe Coutinho submits official transfer request to Liverpool

For some weeks now, there has been intense transfer rumours making the round about the departure of Philippe Coutinho from Anfield to Camp Nou. Sky Sports has reported with this tweet ”BREAKING: @Phil_Coutinho hands @LFC an official transfer request – Sky sources. #SSN.” that the Brazilian has handed in an official transfer request to Liverpool despite the Liverpool management debunking the claims.

Sky Sports authoritatively reported that Liverpool have rejected two bids for Coutinho, made by Barcelona for £72m and £90m respectively this summer. A close family member of Coutinho revealed that ”Philippe has tried very hard to find an amicable solution to this situation but to no avail. He has tremendous love for the club and its fans. But like Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez have pointed out in the past, Liverpool does not let its players leave on amicable terms.”

Jurgen Klopp has said that Coutinho will miss the season opener against Watford, thereby heightening the speculations and the club has issued an official statement saying, “We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho. The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”
