The body found on the wreckage of the aircraft by the rescue team has been confirmed to be that of the 28-year-old striker, Emiliano Sala.
The plane was discovered on the seabed of the English Channel last Sunday by a retinue of private underwater search team.
Emiliano Sala and pilot, David Ibbotson were the only two passengers aboard the Piper Malibu aircraft which crashed between Nantes and Cardiff on January 21.
Dorset Police confirmed in a statement, “the body brought to Portland Port today has been formally identified by HM Coroner for Dorset as that of professional footballer Emiliano Sala.
“The families of Mr Sala and pilot David Ibbotson have been updated. Our thoughts remain with them all.”
