Match Game 7 Summary: Denmark 1 vs Peru 0

This was the first encounter between Peru and Denmark. The match started with Peru dominating play and Denmark sparsely threatening. In the first half, Peru through Christian Cueva missed a penalty in the dying minutes, 45+1’ thereby becoming the first Peruvian player to lose a penalty at the World Cup.

In the 59’, midfielder Yussuf Poulsen scored for Denmark following an assist from Christian Eriksen. Peru kept piling the pressure to no avail. They had a couple of substitutions and dominated the game but the Danes defended well. With the score at 1 – 0, Kasper Schmeichel, the Danish goalkeeper has gone over 500 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal in all competitions.
