Lionel Messi hat trick puts Barcelona in La Liga lead

Barcelona’s travails in the month of August has been obliterated thanks to a 5 – 0 win over crosstown rivals, Espanyol making it the first team to win all of its first three matches. Arch-rivals Real Madrid are sixth place on the table after two consecutive draws with the latest being against newly promoted side Levante. Lionel Messi scored a hat trick in the 5 – 0 demolition of Espanyol with Ousmane Dembele showing class and precision. Barcelona so far have taken an early lead one the La Liga table.
