Liverpool reject third-time bid from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool FC of England have rejected a third-time bid of £114 million from Barcelona for the services of Philippe Coutinho. After the departure of Neymar from the Camp Nou in a world transfer record to French club Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona strengthened their bid for the 25-year old, who had even sent a transfer request to Liverpool’s sporting director Michael Edwards.

The Anfield-based club signed Coutinho from Inter Milan for £8.5 million and are intent on keeping him. The Brazilian penned a new five-year deal with the Reds this January but has fancied a move to the Catalan-based club. Last season, he scored 14 goals in the Premier League. He didn’t play the opening match of the season last weekend due to a back injury and will be missing the next game against Crystal Palace.
