Diego Costa banned for eight matches for insulting referee’s mother

Atletico Madrid of Spain striker, Diego Costa has been banned for eight matches after insulting Jesus Gil Manzano’s (the referee that officiated the Athletico Madrid vs Barcelona match) mom during their 2 – 0 loss to league leaders, Barcelona.

In Manzano’s post-match report, he wrote that the Spanish international insulted his mother during the April 6 la Liga fixture with Barcelona in the 28th minute. He said told the referee ”I s**t on your w**** mother, I s**t on your w**** mother!”

With the suspension by the Spanish Football Federation today, Diego Costa will miss all of Athletico Madrid’s remaining domestic fixture this season and one match in the new season. This is the 3oth time Diego Costa will be suspended – either for a red card or the accumulation of yellow cards since 2006.
