Manchester United defeats Chelsea in FA Cup fifth round

Manchester United defeated Chelsea emphatically to pick up the last FA Cup quarter-final slot. The Red Devils defeated the Blues by 2 – 0.

Thanks to two wonderful first-half goals from in the 31st and 45th minutes from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba.

Manchester United now joins the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Millwall, Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Swansea City, Watford and Brighton & Hove Albion who have all qualified for the quarter-final stage.

Just last season, Chelsea and Manchester United played the FA Cup final at Wembley and Chelsea triumphed, thanks to a penalty converted by Eden Hazard.

If Chelsea won the encounter tonight, it would have represented a realistic hope of winning a silverware this season but alas.

The win by Manchester United has ensured manager, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer 11th win in the 13th matches that he has been in charge.
