Egypt coach, Hector Cuper says he didn’t want to risk bringing in Mohamed Salah in the 1 – 0 loss to Uruguay. The South Americans won the match in the dying minutes of regulation time following a fantastic header from Jose Gimenez. Mohamed Salah, who turned 26 today was kept on the bench because they didn’t want to risk him to injury, following the body toggle that he had with Sergio Ramos in the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid three weeks ago.

Hector Cuper reiterated in the post-match interview that he wasn’t sure how much of a difference Mo’ Salah would have effected in the match but of course, he admits Salah is a fantastic player. He also said, “the decision is always taken by myself and the staff, especially in a case like Mo Salah’s case. Yesterday we were quite certain during that training session he would play. After the session, there was the question of whether if he fell if he could get another injury.”

The Liverpool of England star will be back for the subsequent matches against Russia and Saudi Arabia.
