Chelsea has agreed to an initial deal with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Diego Costa. According to Atletico Madrid, the Chelsea management has authorised Costa to travel to Madrid in the coming days to undergo a medical and settle his contracts. The Stamford Bridge-based club said in a statement, “Chelsea Football Club has today agreed terms with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Diego Costa. The transfer will be subject to the agreement of personal terms and a medical.”

The transfer window has been closed and Atleti has been banned from registering new players until 2018. Costa will only be enabled to play in January 2018. According to Spanish news outlets, Atleti agreed to a world record-fee in the region of 55 Million Euros to sign Diego Costa. The Spaniard hasn’t played for Chelsea since the FA Cup final against Arsenal in May. A few days after, Antonio Conte sent him an SMS saying he isn’t in his plans for the 2017/2018 season.

Atletico Madrid will play Chelsea in the Champions League group stage match next week Wednesday.
