Dani Ceballos who was the most outstanding player at the recently concluded UEFA U-21 Championships has joined Real Madrid for a fee hovering in the region of US$17 million. The Spanish midfielder was the cynosure of the eyes of both Barcelona and Real Madrid who needed his services but he opted to join the Los Blancos in the heart of the Spanish capital.

The 20-year old rejected renewal offers from Real Betis and indicated it was time to move on after playing for them 108 times in three years. Real Betis President, Angel Haro, also confirmed the move in a news conference saying, “when you have a player and make him an offer and a team come in and pay the release fee clause, there’s little you can do to keep him. We are talking … in the coming hours we will know what Madrid are offering,”
