West Ham striker, Marko Arnautovic has signed a contract extension. The 29-year-old had been in the spotlight, following a £35m bid from a Chinese club with wages hovering around £200,000 weekly.

By committing to the Hammers, the Austrian playmaker has put a stop to the torrent of speculations as the transfer window wind down.

Arnautovic arrived at the London-based club in 2017 from Stoke City in a then club record transfer fee of £20m released a statement saying, “I want to say to the fans that I’m happy to stay. I’m glad to play again, show myself and score goals, to make assists, but also to say that the major point is Marko Arnautovic never refused [to play or train]. I would never refuse.

“The fans gave me the power, they gave me the energy and that’s why I have to be here and that’s why I want to stay. I never wanted to run away because I hate this club, this was never my intention.”

Before he handed a transfer request, Marko Arnautovic’s contract was bound to expire in 2022.
